The headache pierced her temples at odd times, but the doctors assured her it would fade. Sasha stood in front of her desk, watching the holo of the arrests of most of the City council. Along with the majority of her security office, the council and many of the prison staff had been arrested in the conspiracy.

Buzz’s burst uploads had done the trick, calling down the hovering security forces as well as alibiing herself and the AI. Still, even with the forensic audit, she knew there would be questions about how they’d been able to subvert Buzz. Some would assume it knew and had been collaborating.

She still could have left, and with a decent reference, but how she could go? Buzz had come to her aid when she’d asked and helped all it could. Like a real public servant.

Like a friend.

And friends didn’t run out on friends when they needed support.

So she stayed on one, no, two conditions. First they made sure Buzz’s exoneration was made public.

And two...

The door to her office chimed. A warmth tingled at the back of her head.

Your new uniform, Zero. I think you will like the dark grey much better.

Oh yes, she would. Very much so.
